A woman who used a kitchen spatula in a three-hour siege after claiming she had ‘chopped up two men and put them in a stir fry’, has been spared jail.
Katie Jones rang 999 twice, falsely claiming that she was armed with a knife and a gun.
Officers deployed Tasers when the 30-year-old threatened to ‘chop up and bury’ a hostage negotiator as she demanded cigarettes.
The police operation in Handforth, near Wilmslow, Cheshire cost taxpayers £1,002.

Jones was found in the living room clutching the spatula and two male friends who were thought to have slept through the entire drama were found asleep and unharmed in a bedroom.
Jones, now of Tytherington near Macclesfield, admitted wasting police time and was ordered to complete a 12 month community order.
The incident began at 11.10pm on October 21 last year after Jones made two 999 calls to police.
Prosecutor Nicole Bridgman told Stockport Magistrates’ Court that Jones phoned 999 and said she had a gun.
She then rang again, claiming she had stabbed someone and requesting the police attend before hanging up.
Ms Bridgman added: ‘Two police officers attended the defendant’s flat but she said if the police entered she would slit her wrists.
‘The defendant banged her head on the door and said she had chopped up the men inside and put them in a stir fry.
‘She threatened to bury and chop up the negotiator.
‘During the negotiations she used a metal object thought to be a knife and the officer drew their taser. The object had in fact been a spatula.
‘After three and a half hours of the defendant refusing to allow police inside, making repeated demands for cigarettes.’

The prosecution ask for £1,002 in wasted police costs to be paid but Jones was fined £300.
Jones, who also admitted an unrelated offences of handling stolen goods had mental health difficulties at the time of the incident, the court heard.
Her lawyer Peter Malone said: ‘Her mental health has since improved vastly as she is getting help and support.’
