WENDY'S French fries are the number one sales product on the restaurant's menu.
The company made an announcement about their customer-favorite product on August 27, 2021.
What are the new French fries at Wendy’s?
Wendy's announced that they would be reformulating it's fries, and that the new and improved menu item would be rolled out in September 2021.
The culinary team at the organization said revamping the fries was a months-long process. The fries were last reformulated in 2010.
Wendy's has around 6,000 branches across the US. You can find your nearest one by checking its store locator tool.
The new French fry was designed to retain heat and crispness for between 15 and 30 minutes to optimize freshness for it's growth in drive-thru and carry-out sales channels said John Li, Wendy’s vice president of culinary innovation.
“Emily and the whole cross-functional team have spent months and months and months on perfecting the best hot, crispy French fry,” Li said, “and we finally have it. … We put some really hard effort into this with a lot of blood, sweat and tears but to actually end up with a fry that is nearly two-to-one preference versus our primary competitor McDonald's, it's pretty exciting.”
The new French fry formula fits into Wendy’s “Fast Food Done Right” motto, Li said.
“We know COVID changed the game when it comes to how our customers are getting their food,” Senior Specialist in Culinary Innovation Emily Kessler said.
“That accelerated the need to develop to make sure our fries are withstanding that delivery experience.”
Does Wendy's serve breakfast?
Wendy's rolled out its breakfast service nationwide across the US in 2020.
Previously, it was only available in 300 of its branches.
In early August 2021, Wendy's gave out free croissants with sausage, egg and Swiss or with bacon, egg and Swiss to it's customers.
The promotion came as Wendy's announced it plans to spend an extra $10million to advertise breakfast this year.
The investment is an aim to get more people to try items from the breakfast menu.
