- Guide Onne Vegter captured the moment in a Game Reserve in South Africa

- The predators then look up to see their lunch running off into the distance
A cheeky warthog has pranked a pride of sleeping lions by waking them up and sprinting away leaving them baffled as to what just happened.
Pumbaa, named after the warthog in The Lion King, spots the four lions napping near a tree and initially thinks about walking quietly the other way before stopping in its tracks in South Africa.
It then chooses to head straight towards the lions, before darting right at them causing the startled pride to immediately wake up, just in time to see the warthog sprinting away into the distance.

The rattled lions don’t know what is going on, as, having jumped to attention when the warthog awoke them, they then look around confused.
Safari guide Onne Vegter captured the moment in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, in South Africa.
Onne captured the moment on February 10, 2018, but it was only recently shared on a prominent wildlife site.
The warthog, named Pumbaa after the character in The Lion King, runs straight towards the lions, startling them
He said: ‘As the warthog came closer to the lions, I thought his days were numbered, these lions are surely going to have this warthog for lunch – we all had a good laugh.
‘Moments like this remind us that anything can happen in the wild, and every game drive is unpredictable.
‘Even when you think the outcome is certain, the unexpected happens.’
