I’m a member of the King’s Guard – this is the best way to get a photo with us
- All you need to know about getting a pic with a member of the King’s Guard
- Britons took to Reddit to ask a King’s Guard member their burning questions
While most of us couldn’t aspire for much more than having the chance to cross paths with the royals, the purpose of the King’s Guard is to protect the monarch – and who better to ask all things royal than a member of the coveted squad?
One member of the The King’s Guard took to Reddit’s Ask Me Anything thread to reveal the ins and outs of his trade.
The soldier, wary of revealing his identity said: ‘I am a Queen’s Guard, I see a lot of false info and myths about what we do, so I’d like to answer any updated questions anyone has about us!’
Keen to serve their country, the guard revealed that members are far too busy protecting the royals to get to know their pets.
The soldier told Reddit: ‘We meet royals now and then, depends what and where you are doing business, however anytime we are in their presence, we wouldn’t be relaxed enough to start playing with their pets unfortunately.’

This follows a user asking: ‘Have you met any of the Royals? Did you get to pat the Corgis?’
And it turns out that getting a photo with the famous guard is just as easy as ‘asking’. But the Reddit user admitted: ‘if someone’s being a nuisance I might March out the shot.’
Redditors were humoured, and one said: ‘Can’t talk but can still tell people off, this is hilarious.’
Another chimed in to say: ‘Getting a picture with a guard marching out of the shot would make it so much more interesting.’
One even added: ‘Meme material for sure.’
