Outrage as boxer Ohara Davies makes bizarre link between Emiliano Sala and Madeleine McCann

The London-born fighter, 26, said it was "not fair" that money "still is being pumped" into the McCann investigation after the search for Sala ended after "only a few days".

The Argentinian striker, 28, and his pilot are both feared dead after their small private plane disappeared over the English Channel on Monday.

Cops called off the search earlier today, stating the chances of survival as “extremely remote”.

Davies tweeted: "If you call off this search after only a few days, please answer this one question for us?

"Why was millions being pumped and still is being pumped into finding Madeleine McCann 12 years after her disappearance? This is not fair"

Outraged fans hit out at the boxer – with one dubbing him "an attention seeking idiot."

Another added: "Madeleine McCann didn't crash a plane into the English Channel in sub zero temperatures.

"She's a child who went missing and nobody knows why. It's a completely different thing."

The gaffe came just hours after Sala's heartbroken sister Romina sobbed on TV this afternoon as she pleaded for rescuers to keep searching.

She wept: "Please don't give up searching for my brother. I know he is still alive.

"In my heart I know that Emiliano is a fighter and I know he is still alive.

"Emiliano and the pilot are in the Channel. Please do not stop searching."
