A MOM of two coming home from late night shopping in Florida was shot in a "senseless" botched carjacking, police have said.
Roxana Sanchez, 36, was coming home after spending the night out with a friend in Orlando when a light-colored sedan followed them into their Orange County neighborhood.
When Sanchez and her friend pulled into Sanchez's driveway, several men got out of the sedan and confronted them, police said at a press conference on Tuesday.
"Two black males get out, approach the victims on both sides of the car, bang on the car telling them to get out," Orange County Sheriff John Mina said.
Sanchez's friend was at the wheel of the car.
"The driver — in fear — put the car into reverse, striking the suspect’s car," Mina continued.
That's when one of them men sitting in the passenger car door side fired at Sanchez, fatally harming her.
The mom of two was rushed to a local hospital but could not be saved.
Douglas Mejia, Sanchez's husband, remembered his "wife as a very caring person. She was my mountain in this relationship."
"She was gone way too soon. Especially on a glorious day. On Sunday, Mother’s Day, that we had plans. Me and the boys," he added.
“And we woke up… ‘what are we going to do?’ That’s the question one of my sons asked me, the oldest. And I told him… ‘let’s celebrate her, her memory.'”
Police have since released video of the shooting and are asking the public's help to find the men.
