A former colleague of young Mernda woman Celeste Manno has been charged with murder over her death.

Former colleague Luay Nader Sako, 35, was arrested shortly after the incident when he drove to nearby Mernda police station.
On Thursday afternoon, Mr Sako was transported from hospital to police headquarters to be interviewed.
He was charged with one count of murder several hours later and will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday night.
Earlier this week, Ms Manno's grieving family paid tribute to the bright, intelligent young woman.
"She was … the best of all us. She was loved by everyone – there isn't a soul on this Earth who could ever say a bad thing," said older brother Jayden.

Ms Manno was a team leader at her job at a Mill Park call centre run by global services company Serco. Mr Sako was one of her team members but left the company about a year ago.
Her brother Alessandro, 19, on Wednesday shared an emotional tribute to his older sister.
"You were my everything," he said. "You and I were always inseparable and had a bond like no one could ever imagine.

"It was only two days ago when we were both making homemade pizzas together and having a great time by the pool and talking about seeing our niece tomorrow.
"I can’t believe you're gone and I’m never gonna see you again. You were so perfect in every way and I just can’t believe this is real."
Her boyfriend Chris Ridsdale also paid tribute to his "beautiful" partner.

"To say she was beautiful would be an understatement. It was so much more than the way she looked. Celeste was graceful, elegant, charismatic, passionate and old fashioned – a one of a kind," he said.
"To have known Celeste was to have been blessed. Such a kind, caring and selfless soul who had an impact on everyone she came into contact with."
