FOUR lucky burger fans have won £85,000 jackpots on a McDonald’s Monopoly game after a software error made extra prizes available.
The fast food giant was running a promotional app in Germany which was supposed to allow two people to take home the huge cash prize.
However, after the app developers left the program open for too long, four people won the jackpot within the first four hours, Bild reports.
The error enabled more prizes to become available in a shorter period of time.
McDonald’s has written the loss off as training cash and has promised to pay out to the lucky winners.
And the firm appears to be taking the mistake with good humour.
The burger chain's German Twitter account has been posting funny memes about the inadvertent Monopoly bonanza.
One post promotes a job for raffle tester adding “(are) you are looking for a job where you can really switch off?”
The post ends with the hashtag "#YouHadOneJob."
Another post features a GIF with rap star P Diddy throwing wads of cash around along with the caption: “Meanwhile in der McDonald's IT.”
A McDonald's spokesman said: “The colleagues working on this both in house and our service partners were devastated by the mistake and had a few sleepless nights as a result.”
