A foul odor led cops to a battered dead body inside a Brooklyn apartment Friday morning and they believe the death is “suspicious,” police said.
A concerned neighbor called 911 around 9 a.m. after she noticed the bad smell inside the Clinton Avenue building in Clinton Hill, cops said.
Authorities arrived on scene and found a 49-year-old man unconscious lying face-up on the hallway floor with trauma to his head and face inside the first-floor apartment, police said.
The nature of the injuries led police to believe the death is suspicious but they are awaiting the cause of death from the medical examiner’s office, police sources said.
Residents of the building were forced to exit through the basement while police were on scene investigating.
