Fedora-wearing bank robber busted on Long Island

A bank robbery suspect with a fondness for trendy hats was arrested on Long Island, police said.

Raymond Peruggi, 29, was busted around 9 p.m. on Monday night at around 9 p.m. in Mastic Beach, and charged with third-degree robbery, authorities said.

Police say Peruggi — wearing a bright blue shirt and sporting a thick, black-framed glasses and a “summer style fedora” — walked into a Chase Bank in Brookhaven on Aug. 12 and passed a note to a teller demanding cash.

He’s scheduled to be arraigned later today.
