A 19-year-old student says her relationship with her boyfriend, 61, is 'just like any other' – despite the 42-year age gap.
Urszula Grzelak from Warsaw, Poland, was aged 16, when she met, Nigel Thorpe from Oxford during a visit to see family in the UK in August 2016.
Nigel, a sales associate, is a friend of Urszula's aunt and the pair were instantly drawn to each other.
Two weeks later Urszula's aunt was having issues with her partner, and decided it would be best they stayed with Nigel until the end of her holiday.
Urszula and Nigel spent whole days together, visiting local attractions and bonded over their passion for rock music.
The pair soon fell in love and became an item after Urszula returned to Poland.
Urszula moved to the UK to be with Nigel, who is her first boyfriend.
They have lived together for over a year now but she is planning on moving back to Poland over the summer to go to university.
People have branded their relationship 'sick' and the teenager a 'gold digger' – but Urszula has hit back at critics.
She said: "Age gap relationships are like any other relationship. There are two people in love who go on dates, spend time together, have ups and downs like any other couple.
"To those who want to date much older or younger people be sure of your feelings and if your heart tells you that this is it just do it. Love is stronger than anything. For love there is no boundaries.
"Now I can finally say that it does not matter what people will say. I will live my own life. Only you, yourself know who you love, how you feel and what is best for you.
"To everyone who criticises our relationship. You are fully entitled to your opinion as long as it is not abusive and harmful.
"People need to understand that we all are very different. We have different skin colour, religion, views, ethnicity but no one is allowed to judge or hurt people because of it. "
Urszula's parents were furious when they heard about Nigel and took away her phone and the internet in an effort to stop her speaking with him.
But she still found a way to keep in touch with Nigel and they began to accept him over time.
Although her parents have accepted her relationship with Nigel, strangers often point, stare and laugh at the couple when they are out in public.
The couple have a blissful relationship and the only difficulties they encounter are people's reaction to it – which they say doesn't affect them.
