‘That is ridiculous!’: Bowls player astonishes commentator with his stunningly accurate shot

  • Nick Brett competed at World Indoor Bowls Championships in Great Yarmouth
  • He and his partner Greg Harlow went on to win the tournament’s open pairs title
  • The shocked commentator says: ‘That is just so good it is ridiculous. What a ball’

This is the amazing moment a world-class bowler rolled his ball through a ‘six-inch’ gap in a shot so accurate that the commentator proclaimed it ‘ridiculous’.

Nick Brett made the nail-biting roll while competing in the World Indoor Bowls Championships in Potters Leisure Resort in Great Yarmouth.

Players in bowls aim to get their larger balls – called bowls – closer to the smaller yellow ‘jack’ ball than their opponents.

Brett was competing alongside Greg Harlow in the open pairs final when he effortlessly sent his green bowl rolling through the tiny gap – a move that led to the pair’s eventual win.

In the clip, Brett releases his bowl along the green.

The crowd silently waits in anticipation as the commentator remarks: ‘The quality of these guys, you wouldn’t expect them to miss either to be honest.’

The ball elegantly curls around from the right in a wide loop and heads straight towards the waiting jack.

The commentator says: ‘Well he’s very close to splitting the two red balls and getting to the jack. That’s what the target is.’

Noise from the crowd slowly begins to rise as the bowl gets closer its target.

The shocked commentator says: ‘That was outrageous’ as the ball makes contact with the yellow jack

Then – in a move that seems near impossible – the bowl rolls perfectly through the tight gap between two red balls and makes contact with the jack.

The shocked commentator then says: ‘Oh look at this. That is ridiculous. That is just so good it is ridiculous. What a ball.
