AN X FACTOR legend has been left completely devastated following the death of his father.

Christopher Maloney, 45, found fame on the ITV reality TV series in 2012.

Clearly a family man, he often talked about his nan during his time on The X Factor but has now taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to reveal the tragic loss of his dad, also called Chris.

In a candid message, he wrote: "So today my world has fallen apart…

"At 8am this morning my beautiful Dad has suddenly passed away at home."

"I am totally devastated and broken hearted beyond any words.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "It’s difficult because he has received some unwarranted and negative comments.

"I know Chris is working so hard for every one of them. He’s learning more and getting better as each week passes with the help of Gary Barlow.

"He’ll always be a winner with us."

It has been a tough few months for Christopher who nearly died himself earlier this year.

He was rushed to hospital after a Chinese takeaway and explained that a parasite embedded itself into his large intestine and gave him colitis of the colon and large intestine.

The star told how he ate a dinner of crispy duck and pancakes and started feeling ill a little over five hours later.

Meanwhile, the star's beloved nan Pat sadly passed in 2019.
