Dominic Raab appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday to address the news the Covid vaccine will be mandatory for all frontline NHS staff by next spring. However, during the discussion Martin Lewis and Susanna Reid questioned whether the Deputy Prime Minister could explain why Boris Johnson decided not to wear a face covering during a visit to a hospital.
Lewis said: “To be fair to you Deputy Prime Minister I should tell you now we’re playing an image of the Prime Minister walking along elbow-bumping three nurses, I presume, all wearing masks with two people in the background wearing masks.
“The only person in shot not wearing a mask is the Prime Minister.
“Do you have an idea what the clinical difference is between the Prime Minister and everyone else is in that setting so that the Prime Minister doesn’t have to wear a mask when he’s not talking and everyone else does?”
“Look I’m Justice Secretary not Health Secretary let alone a clinician so I defer to others who make those rules,” Raab replied.
