Who is in The Long Song cast?

Lenny Henry

Lenny Henry is a 60-year-old British stand-up comedian, actor and writer, who was born Lenworth George Henry.

Lenny was married to fellow comedian Dawn French from 1984-2010, their daughter Billie was born in 1991.

His successful career in the entertainment industry spans over forty years, his first TV appearance was in the New Faces talent show where he won with his impersonation of Stevie Wonder.

His first series of The Lenny Henry Show aired on BBC in 1984 and he also produced and starred in his own five-part online series called, Conversations with my Wife.

More recently, he's starred in The Syndicate, and Lenny joined the cast of Broadchurch in May 2016.  He stars as Godfrey, the head slave, in the Long Song.

A strong purveyor of charity work, he co-founded Comic Relief, and he also does work for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. He received a knighthood in the 2015 Queen's birthday honours.

Hayley Atwell

Hayley Atwell, 36, is a British-American actress who is often cast in period pieces.

Superhero fans will also know her as Marvel’s gun-toting Agent Carter and most recently she appeared in Disney film, Christopher Robin.

Hayley was, until 2012, in a long-term relationship with Gabriel Bisset-Smith, a screenwriter who worked on Channel 4 teen drama Skins.

Tamara Lawrance

Tamara Lawrance plays the Long Song protagonist July, a strong-willed, young slave and maid to slave owner Caroline Mortimer.

She said: "A real blessing to be amongst this cast and crew, playing a character as subversive as July. Every day at work is enlightening.”

She is best known for her performances as Prince Harry's republican girlfriend in the 2017 BBC television film King Charles III.

Last year, she also appeared as Viola in a Shakespearean play Twelfth Night at the National Theatre.

Jack Lowden

Jack Lowden, 28, is a Scottish actor who rose to fame in the 2016 BBC miniseries War & Peace.

He was last seen in Christopher Nolan’s period blockbuster Dunkirk last year and Jack has also had roles in Wolf Hall and Tommy's Honour.

He stars as Robert Goodwin in the Last Song, the charming new overseer of the plantation, whose revolutionary ideas intrigue both July and Caroline.
