By now you’ve probably heard that Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez are engaged and while many fellow celebrities congratulated the pair via social media, one person accused Rodriguez of cheating on his fiancée.
Here’s who claimed the former slugger is being unfaithful to Lopez, plus how some other stars reacted to JLo’s massive ring.
Who accused A-Rod of cheating?
Shortly after announcing their happy news, former MLB player Jose Canseco blasted A-Rod on Twitter with claims that he is cheating on the “My Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer.
“Watching World of Dance watching J.Lo text Alex Rodriguez little does she know that he is cheating on her with my ex-wife Jessica poor girl she has no idea who he really is,” Canseco tweeted.
“I was there a few months back with her when he called her on her phone,” he added.
But the ex-Oakland A’s star wasn’t done there. He continued his rant by challenging Rodriguez to a “boxing match or an MMA match anytime” and tweeted out a phone number for Lopez to call him so he could let her know “the truth.”
When other Twitter users pointed out that Canseco wasn’t offering any evidence to back up his claims, he wrote that he would “take a polygraph to prove that what I’m saying about Alex Rodriguez is 100% accurate.”
Canseco was arrested and charged with battery for beating his ex Jessica, who he mentioned in the tweets, in 1997. He pleaded no contest and received one year probation. He’s also fond of tweeting about aliens teaching people to time travel and how he plans to search for Bigfoot.
To no one’s surprise, the newly-engaged couple did not respond to the former outfielder’s Twitter tirade.
Other celebrity reactions to their engagement
While Canseco was trying to stir up drama on Twitter, other stars took to social media to send the pair
Following the announcement, daytime talk show host Ellen Degeneres commented on a photo of the ring on Lopez’s Instagram writing, “Yes. I’ll be your Maid of Honor.”
Model Nina Agdal chimed in and tweeted about the new piece of jewelry joking that it “could conveniently work as a reflector as well. Congrats!”
Former minor leaguer Matt Paré also joked about the huge diamond writing that after the couple got engaged “all I can think about is that I hope my girlfriend doesn’t see the size of this ring.”
Major League Baseball even got in on the social media fun by tweeting a picture of Lopez and Rodriguez at a Yankees game years before they began dating with the caption, “A-Rod delivers another ring to the Bronx.” To which he had a great response and wrote back, “I’m glad I didn’t have to wait 16 years for this yes.”
