Wes Bentley hints Yellowstone could end with a ‘crazy bloodbath’ in final season

Paramount has announced that Yellowstone will conclude after the second half of season five, which is set to debut in November, pending the resolution of the WGA strikes in Hollywood.

There has also been a great deal of speculation as to whether leading man Kevin Costner will make an appearance in the now-final episodes of the series.

With so much up in the air, Yellowstone star Wes Bentley has teased the show’s return, hinting at a “crazy bloodbath” to finish off the show.

Speaking to TV Line, the actor hinted at “a different kind of intensity” that’s not typical of the previous seasons.

He said: “Maybe that’s a build-up for some crazy bloodbath at the end, or maybe that tension continues until it explodes in some more compact way.”

Speaking about the first half of season five, Bentley added: “The potential is there. We’ve seen what this show can be and how violent this world can be.

“I thought it was really amazing to see the restraint [in the first half of] this season from the violence.”

The American Beauty actor has played Jamie Dutton ever since Yellowstone initially premiered in 2018.

The cast of the show, which is led by Kevin Costner, also features actors such as Luke Grimes, Kelly Riley and Cole Hauser.

Yellowstone is centred on a ranch-owning family that comes into conflict with various parties, including land developers and a neighbouring Native American reservation.

The program has served as the basis for several spin-offs, including 1883 and 1923.

The first half of Yellowstone’s fifth and final season debuted in November of last year, and it concluded on New Year’s Day.

The second part was initially supposed to be released this year, although production was halted due to the ongoing WGA strike.

The announcement of the show’s ending after season five was the culmination of several tense months of speculation about the show’s future.

In August 2022, star Kevin Costner spoke with Extra about the ever-present rumours of his character John dying, with it upsetting the Bodyguard star.

He said: “I don’t want to die… just too much to do. In terms of this story, I don’t know where that’s gonna go… I haven’t really thought about it.

“I think that [show creator Taylor Sheridan]’s been writing at a really high level. I’ll say when I don’t want to do it anymore.”
