The Walking Dead season 11 is in full swing and set to be the shows final season, with it all coming to an end very soon. Being known for its heavy themes and dark tones, showrunner Angela Kang revealed the moments in which she thought the series went too far.
In a recent interview, Angel Kang explained that there is the freedom to do the dark and twisted stories, they try to keep it suitable.
She began: “Because we’re on basic cable in the United States, we have a certain amount of freedom to go dark.
“But at the same time, we can’t go as dark on certain platforms, not do we always want to,” she explained.
“I think we’re always trying to find the balance, and sometimes maybe we go too far for some people.”
“Sometimes we don’t go far enough for others, so yeah, it’s something that we ask ourselves all the time ‘is this too dark? But the world is dark?’.
“We just try to handle it as tastefully as we can when we’re going in those territories,” she said.
Kang also explained the role AMC has had in deciding the tone of the show and revealed that darkness isn’t their main concern, it’s making sure the language is appropriate.
“The network, they’re very supportive, we’ve not really had much of that [and] I think it’s more like, there are sort of strict rule about language in the United States.
“We’re a little more prudish about language than violence if that tells you anything, so they tend to be like ‘You have too many curse words, ‘Can you cut a little bit?’, but we’re pretty good at self-regulating,” she explained to Digital Spy.
The Walking Dead season 11 arrived on Disney Plus’s Star for UK fans on August 23, leaving fans excited for the show’s finale as Lauren Cohan teased.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, the long-standing Walking Dead star revealed that the shows final season were “bittersweet”.
She also explained that the last episode is a “scary and satisfying conclusion” to the drama, wrapping up the shows final season.

Season 11 will see the survivors try to reclaim the locations overtaken by The Reapers while Maggie and Negan continue to feud.
There have been questions from fans where the duo will ever move on from Negan murdering Glenn.
Lauren Cohen’s character returned to her role as Maggie Rhee after returning dramatically in the season 10 finale, two years after leaving the show.
The final season is set to be epic in length, with 24 episodes split into two separate batches bringing the story to a close, the second of which is likely to be held until 2022.
Scott Gimple, Chief Content Officer for the Walking Dead franchise, said: “It’s been 10 years ‘gone bye:’ what lies ahead are two more to come and stories and stories to tell beyond that.
“We have a lot of thrilling stories left to tell on TWD, and then, this end will be a beginning of more Walking Dead – brand new stories and characters.
“This will be a grand finale that will leave to new premieres, evolutions is upon us, The Walking Dead lives,” he explained.
The news that the long-running show would be wrapping up came as a surprise to fans, and star Jeffrey Dean Morgan revealed that there was a similar feeling behind the scenes.
