The Good Doctor will premiere its fourth season at the beginning next week on ABC. Ahead of the medical drama’s return to screens, Express.co.uk has rounded up a brief recap of the major storylines of season three. Here’s everything viewers need to remember about the show.
What happened in The Good Doctor season 3?
Season three, episode 20 of The Good Doctor aired back in March and saw some dramatic storylines come to a close.
Now, heading into season four of the medical drama, some might be wondering just what these were.
The Good Doctor is returning to Monday evenings from November 2.
Therefore, ahead of its airing, here’s some of the moments you need to remember from the third outing.
Shaun and Lea
Throughout much of season three of The Good Doctor, Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore) was dating Carly Lever (Jasika Nicole).
However, one of the main complications in their relationship was Shaun’s feelings for Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara).
This saw Shaun and Carly break up before Shaun went and confessed to Lea about how he felt.
She turned him down at the time but then in the season finale, she went back on her decision.
As Shaun emerged from a collapsed brewery after escaping death, Lea was there to kiss him and admit she was in love with him too.
Dr Park leaving
Another big storyline from the end of season three was what the future held for Dr Alex Park (Will Yun Lee).
He struggled with a heartbreaking loss of a patient which made him reflect on his position.
Viewers last saw him contemplating if he will leave the hospital and reunite with his family in Arizona.
Given the trailer for season four of the show, it seems like this is something he will still be grappling with when it returns.

Dr Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) ended season three in a very difficult position for her surgical career.
She found her hand condition worsening throughout the season and had surgery to try and improve it.
However, when the earthquake happened, she operated before she had fully recovered, meaning she might have permanent damage.
One of the big worries heading into season four is whether she will be able to recover from this.
Dr Melendez’s death
Probably the most dramatic moment of season three was the heartbreaking death of Dr Neil Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez).
During the earthquake he was injured by falling rubble, which caused massive internal injuries.
He soon developed sepsis and was unable to recover in the final episode, dying after some heartbreaking goodbyes with Claire Brown (Antonia Thomas) and Audrey Lim (Christina Chang).
This is sure to hang heavy over the characters when season four begins on ABC.
The Good Doctor returns to ABC on Monday, November 2.
