The Big Bang Theory fans realise there was a secret wedding off camera

The Big Bang Theory may have aired for the final time in 2019, but fans are still uncovering new things about the show nearly a year on.

And one fun fact in particular uncovers a secret wedding that happened off screen.

Fans have worked out that Raj’s sister Priya Koothrappali is actually married.

Priya was first introduced to viewers in season four where she sleeps with Leonard and the pair then end up dating for a little while, until long distance leads to them breaking up.

But, in a new Reddit thread, one fan points out that if you fast forward to season 10, Raj’s dad reveals that five out of his six children are married and given that Raj isn’t married, it means Priya must have tied the knot.

One fan commented: ‘Even though we don’t hear much about Priya after she and Leanord broke up, in S10 E16 Raj’s dad says to raj that out of his 6 children, 5 of them are married which means Priya is married. I don’t know if people noticed this.’

‘Well she did cheat on Leonard with her ex when she went back to India so my assumption was that she married him,’ another fan replied.

Not everyone was as clued up, though, with one fan commenting: ‘Thats new to me,’ and another confessing: ‘I only realised it when I was binging some TBBT today.’

The Big Bang Theory ran for 12 seasons and wrapped up for good in May last year, after Jim Parsons (who played Sheldon Cooper) quitting the series.

It was the longest-running, multi-camera sitcom in history and apparently had two more seasons ready to go, before bosses decided to pull the plug.

The show’s production designer John Shaffner exclusively told that Warner Brothers had hoped to continue the show for a couple more seasons, but bosses had vowed if one cast member quits, the show would end.

He revealed: ‘What had occurred was Jim Parsons had been in touch with Chuck Lorre over the hiatus week and had said he couldn’t come back and do anymore. And Chuck had always said if one member of the cast left the show then the show would have to end.

‘Warner Brothers and CBS wanted to sign for about two more years.’

‘I was back in the office and I found out about this and I went down to stage and I saw Johnny [Galecki] and Kaley [Cuoco] in the comic book store and they were just hugging each other and crying,’ Shaffner said.

‘It was very hard for a while for people to accept the decision and the crew was very disappointed because it was a good job. But I really respected what Jim did. It’s better to leave on top.’
