Strictly Come Dancing finalists Stacey Dooley has admitted she watches videos of Shirley Ballas on her tea breaks.
When she isn’t practising hard in the training room, Stacey is trying to get some inspiration from old clips of the head judge.
The BBC Three documentary maker, who is competing in Saturday’s live final, confessed that professional partner Kevin Clifton often catches her out.
Speaking ahead of the final, she said: "I really didn’t realise I would love it this much. I love dancing, I love ballroom dancing.
"Sometimes Kev walks in and I’m making a tea and watching ballroom dancing on my phone like a complete lunatic, or Shirley Ballas in the 80s, she was amazing."
Stacey has seen some harrowing things while making her documentaries so has loved showing a lighter side to herself.
She said: "I suppose the lovely thing for me personally is you’re able to have conversations with the general public about lighter, celebratory things.
"Sometimes work is so intense and can be so harrowing, it’s very serious and it has to be, the subjects are very dark a lot of time.
"So for me it’s just been people stopping me in Sainsbury’s saying ‘I loved your samba, when you had feathers coming out of every part of your body’. Or when they say ‘I danced to that song at my wedding’ and they are so invested and I have loved it."
Stacey does plan to go back to making documentaries after going on the Strictly tour next year.
On her future plans, Stacey said: "Documentaries are my passion and I am going back to them after Christmas. We’ve got lots going on.
"One of the reasons I did Strictly was to show my lighter side. I am a documentary maker who makes serious programmes but also I am just a young girl who enjoys the entertainment side of things as well. So I suppose a bit of both in an ideal world."
Stacey will be heading up and down the country on the tour, which begins in Birmingham on January 18, but usual partner Kevin won’t be taking part.
On whether the cast would all meet up, she said: "Of course. We’ve been with each other for months. This all started at the end of August – it’s nearly Christmas. So you grow to care for all of them.
"Going forward were all doing the tour as well. Except for Kevin. I’m dancing with Alijaz, so it’s going to be amazing. And I do hope we stay in touch."
The Strictly Come Dancing final airs at 6.30pm on Saturday on BBC1.
