But the ITV star would not be drawn on the results of a survey in which she was voted this year’s “sexiest female contestant”. “Well, that’s news to me,” she said. “I feel tired… If tired and sexy are the same thing then I definitely feel sexy. If not, then I’m still waiting for that moment!” The divorced single mum, 43, says her female friends are “thrilled” with how well she’s done in the competition.

She said. “Friends and family are so thrilled. They’re so proud, and they do feel that I’m out there for them and doing it for people my age. You’re not in the youthful prime of your 20s or 30s. You’re in a different stage of life after you’re 40, especially if you have children.”

The Good Morning Britain political editor danced a waltz and a jive with her partner Giovanni Pernice in the semi-final last night.

Other semi-finalists were Jamie Laing who performed a disco salsa with pro partner Karen Hauer. HRVY and Janette Manrara danced a rumba, Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse performed a Charleston, while Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez scored perfect 10s with their couple’s choice. The judges will evict one couple tonight leaving four couples for next week’s final.
