After emerging from the River Thames, having fallen in during a struggle with Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) may be struggling with additional injuries in EastEnders as signs have indicated that he may be deaf.
While Ben has always had an issue with his hearing, it has been managed with aids – but his time in the river as well as been near a loud gunshot may cause him to lose his hearing as he appeared unable to catch what Keanu was saying and his scenes were replaced by a deep ringing sound.
While Metro.co.uk are currently unable to confirm what is wrong with Ben, it does definitely seem that he will suffer the impacts and after effects of what has happened. If he hasn’t lost his hearing, might he have sustained a head injury during the struggle or when he hit his head emerging from the water or could he be suffering with shock and panic attacks as Callum Highway (Tony Clay) remains missing?
Ben appeared in a world of his own after being pulled from the water and as he was dazed and confused, a cold and injured Callum passed out in the warehouse, with no-one there to find him. The closing moments of the episode saw Ben stumbling around the Square helplessly as he screamed out Callum’s name, not knowing if he would ever see him again.
Next week will further explore the aftermath of the events on the boat and will confirm whether or not Ben has an injury – and if Callum can be found in time. There is also the case of whether his relationship with Phil (Steve McFadden) can survive this.
Meanwhile, Sharon (Letitia Dean) will find herself broken as she brings her new son home to Walford while still reeling from the tragic death of her young son Dennis Rickman (Bleu Landau). But will Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) come clean to her?
