'RHOA': Why Porsha Williams Was 'so Emotional' About Fighting Kenya Moore

The Real Housewives of Atlanta welcomed Porsha Willams and Kenya Moore to the series in season 5. Since joining the Bravo show, the starlets have used their influence from RHOA to promote other ventures. Recently, Williams’ notoriety allowed her to become an advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement. Her activism later causes issues with the former Miss USA during season 13. Many fans might recall that Williams and Moore rarely see eye to eye. In 2014, PJ’s mom reflected on an epic fight she had with the beauty queen.

Inside the feud between Porsha Williams and Kenya Moore

RHOA first premiered on Bravo in Oct. 2008. The series introduced viewers to several wives of Atlanta athletes and people in business. Initially, the show starred Nene Leakes, Lisa Wu, Sheree Whitfield, DeShawn Snow, and Kim Zolciak-Biermann. However, Wu and Snow eventually left RHOA, and Kandi Burruss joined the cast in season 2. In season 3, supermodel Cynthia Bailey and attorney Phaedra Parks rounded out the group.

By season 5, Whitfield left RHOA as a full-time cast member. Ultimately, Moore and Williams accepted their peaches and became a part of the show. At the time, the Go Naked Hair CEO was married to NFL star Kordell Stewart. Throughout the season, Moore frequently criticized Williams’ marriage, and the two had several arguments in the episodes. The pair’s relationship continued to worsen as the season progressed.

“Um, our relationship is nonexistent,” Williams said to Glamour of Moore in 2013.

Porsha Williams explains the moment that was ‘so emotional’ about Kenya Moore fight

Williams and Moore attempted to remain cordial while filming RHOA. Although they admittedly didn’t like each other in season 6, some fans couldn’t have predicted what happened during the reunion. In 2014, cast members Leakes, Bailey, Moore, Williams, Parks, and Burruss reunited to discuss the season. While sitting next to host Andy Cohen, Moore and Williams got into an argument. After exchanging curse words, the women got out of their seats, which resulted in a physical altercation. Williams was sent home for the remainder of the reunion, and Moore demanded that she exit the show.

Eventually, Williams apologized for her actions. Cohen decided to demote the Dish Nation star to a “friend of the show” in season 7. Additionally, Williams spoke about what drove her to become physical with Moore. The 38-year-old reality star said her co-star’s bullying ultimately caused her breaking point, per The Wrap.

“It was so emotional,” Williams said of fighting Moore. “And when I hit that floor, and I started screaming, and NeNe [Leakes] was holding my mouth, [Phaedra Parks] standing there, it was like sisters because this show is difficult for all of us.”

“When they saw me on the floor, and they knew what I had taken from her,” Williams said, “And they knew the bullying she had put me through for two years straight.”

Where do Porsha and Kenya stand in season 13?

Even though Williams called Moore a “bully” in 2014, the RHOA stars attempted to make amends in season 12. When the Waiting to Exhale actor returned to the series after a brief hiatus, she and Williams bonded over becoming new mothers. However, they had a minor fallout in season 12, which escalated into season 13. During Bailey’s bachelorette party in South Carolina, Moore accused Williams of having sex with a stripper named Bolo. The Insecure actor denied the claims.

Moore told Burruss on an episode of Speak On It that she doesn’t regret naming Williams as the one who slept with the entertainer.

“I had the right to say it because we are working and we are in a cast house that we are all sharing, and there are no secrets when you’re in a cast house,” she said. “I understand it was your [Burruss’] party, I understand all of those terms, but I didn’t see any NDA come across my desk, so I’m talking.”
