Netflix series Ozark is going to be finishing after the streaming service confirmed it had renewed the crime drama for one last season. The fourth series is going to be the final one consisting of 14 episodes and split in half. However, some fans are curious to know what happened to the Blue Cat club in the most recent outing.

What happened to the Blue Cat in Ozark?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from all seasons of Ozark

Season one of Ozark saw Marty Byrde (played by Jason Bateman) hastily moving his family to the Ozarks, Missouri.

He had promised the Mexican cartel he’d find a local business to help him launder money for them in a bid to stop his family from getting killed by the group.

After initially posing as an angel investor and pretending to want to help an ailing local business, Marty finally found a prospective company.

The Blue Cat Lodge became the first business Marty used to launder money for the cartel.

Rachel Garrison (Jordana Spiro) felt betrayed by Marty after finding out he was only using the Blue Cat to launder money.

However, Marty tried to reassure Rachel she would be kept out of the illicit side of his activities.

While Rachel agreed to this, nothing was ever the same between the two of them after this.

To make matters worse, FBI agent Roy Petty (Jason Butler Harner) was sniffing around and knew something was amiss.

In season two, Petty tried to get Rachel to ensnare Marty but she failed to do so.

She eventually confessed she was serving as an informant to the FBI and made peace with Marty, who helped her to escape from the Ozarks.

Ultimately, though she ended up dead after her substance abuse problem leading her to take poisoned drugs by mistake.

Meanwhile, it looked like the Blue Cat Lodge ended up getting side lined as the Byrdes looked for a better business venture which would help them launder greater sums of money.

Season two saw Marty and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) focusing on securing a riverboat casino business which would allow them clean vast amounts of money.

While things continued to bubble away with the Blue Cat, once the riverboat casino was up and running it looked like their first business venture took a backseat.

The third outing didn’t seem to make mention of the Blue Cat, but it could well still be part of Byrde Enterprises and the couple’s portfolio.

From the looks of it, the focus for the Byrdes was their new business venture the Missouri Belle.

Then again, the Byrdes could also have sold off the business due to Petty’s suspicions around it.

But as a contingency plan, it makes sense for the Byrdes to keep hold of the business just in case they needed it in the future.

Judging from the Byrdes’ expansion plans in season three, they were also looking to create some legitimate businesses on behalf of the Navarro Cartel should anything happen to kingpin Omar Navarro (Felix Solis) in the bloody drug war.

So, the Blue Cat didn’t really come into play anymore as it’s no longer relevant to the story.

Saying this, the writers may revisit the Blue Cat briefly in season four if only to tie up any loose ends.
