MC Skibadee's daughter speak of 'devastation' after jungle star's death at 47 and shares sweet pics of them together

MC Skibadee's heartbroken daughter has paid tribute to her dad with a series of touching pictures after he died aged just 47.

The influential drum and bass star, real name Alphonso Bondzie, passed away over the weekend.

His devastated daughter Asia has now paid tribute to her dad by sharing poignant snaps of them together.

She wrote: "Words cannot describe how devastated I am to even be writing this but in your short time on this Earth you have made a positive impact on so many people and you will never ever be forgotten dad.

"Rest in peace I love you".

Among the pictures is one of her cuddling up to the MC as a baby and playing as a child with him at a waterpark.

Asia also shared sweet photos of them together at her 17th and 18th birthday parties.

MC Skibadee's family shared the heartbreaking news he had died on Saturday evening.

The cause of the star's death has not yet been confirmed.

A statement said: "Hello everyone, as Alphonso's first born I unfortunately come with some sad news to say that Skibadee has passed away.

“As a family we ask for some privacy but may he rest in peace.”

His agent added: "It breaks our heart to confirm that our brother Alphonso Bondzie Aka Skibadee has sadly passed away over the weekend aged 47 years young.

"Please respect the family's request for privacy at this time."

Tributes immediately poured in for the star, who burst onto the music scene in 1993.

Former So Solid Crew star Lisa Maffia wrote: "Not to sure what to say! Another pioneer gone!

"My heart goes out to your beautiful daughters, family and friends. DnB finest @therealskibagram I’m sorry to hear this news. Rest well sir #skiba #RIP"


DJ Fresh said: “I cannot believe I’m writing this. RIP @TheRealSkibz MC Skibadee.

“His contribution to Drum and Bass can never be equalled. He was first and foremost a great guy I always really enjoyed spending time with.

“Goodbye old friend, we will keep your memory alive forever.”

Chart-topping producer High Contrast wrote: "Very sad to hear that Mc Skibadee has passed away. He was a defining voice in dnb.

"One of the first vinyl I ever bought was Slowmo by Skibba and Det. A dnb icon yet was always down to earth. RIP."

Music business legend Mike Delinquent, who has worked with the likes of Usher, J-Lo and Missy Elliot, said: "Bro I had a beat ready for you, and you didn’t even know as I was gonna reach out this week.

"This is all too much now. It’s making zero sense. The King of all MCs, such a presence, the iconic Skibadee. Rest In Eternal Peace, Skiba."

Pioneering MC Skibadee got his start on pirate radio in 1993 and later performed with Shy FX, Harry Shotta and Stevie Hyper D.

He won the BBC 1Xtra award for best MC in 2006 and a lifetime achievement accolade at the 2010 Drum and Bass Awards.

The music legend merged drum and bass tempos with hip-hop beats to create hit tracks such as Died In Your Arms and Streetfighter MC.

He was also a member of drum and bass group SASASAS.
