On Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, ITV hosts Martin Lewis and Susanna Reid spoke with Andrew Bridgen over Priti Patel’s reported plan to sanction new tactics to redirect migrant boats back to France. However, the interview soon took a turn when Lewis accused Bridgen of not answering his questions. The host wanted to know where the line was drawn for the country to help other people and when it is not.
“The international rules are,” the MP began before Lewis interrupted. “I was asking the question of how you draw the line of when we are going to help some people in the country and when we are not.
“It is a question, I am not making a statement.”
“Because they’re coming from France, these migrants are clearly crossed the Channel from France.
“And as I said before not even the most ardent Francophobe could claim France is not a safe country to seek asylum.”
He hit back: “Your argument is completely spurious.”
Interrupting the MP once again, Lewis raged: “Can I just be clear, I haven’t made an argument, I have asked you a question which you are not answering.”
