Lucifer season 5b theories: Trixie knows Lucifer is the devil as fans spot key clue

Lucifer meets Trixie Espinoza in 2016 pilot episode

The crime-solving devil Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) is still keeping his true face hidden from some of his closest friends. However, before the popular Netflix series finally wraps up its fifth season, fans are convinced Trixie Espinoza (Scarlett Estevez) may reveal she’s known his secret all along.

The upcoming second half of Lucifer season five could feature the surprising revelation that Lucifer’s young friend Trixie has known about his devilish secret since the day he met.

Lucifer has always been transparent about his celestial origins, though most of his human friends dismiss his claims as a joke or delusions until they get a glimpse of his true face.

Now the series has reached its fifth season, Lucifer’s love interest Chloe Decker (Lauren German) finally knows his secret, as well as her ex-husband Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro).

However, the likes of Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) and Trixie are still in the dark about Lucifer’s true identity – or are they?

After spotting some revealing clues throughout the series, some fans are convinced Trixie knows much more about Luci’s background than she admits.

The popular debate was recently reopened on Reddit as devoted ‘Lucifans’ continue to discuss the series during its midseason hiatus.

User beyster began: “Has it dawned on anyone yet that Trixie knows Lucifer is the devil and Maze is a demon?

“The way he talks so openly about himself in front of her and she NEVER questions it? Not to mention the Halloween episode where Maze shows her true face.”

Trixie has arguably become even closer with Lucifer’s demonic friend Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt), who revealed her true face as part of her trick-or-treating costume.

Plus, in the latest season they conspired together to find out the true story of Maze’s mother, Lilith (L. Scott Caldwell), and Trixie never batted an eye at the fact the immortal Lucifer was alive and kicking in 1940s Los Angeles.

As the series goes on, Trixie has started spending even more time around her supernatural companions, and has certainly cottoned on to something strange going on as she gets older and smarter.

Other fans agreed with the theory, and sounded off in the comments with even more evidence Trixie has cracked Lucifer’s secret.

One viewer replied: “Yes, she knows. A drawing of him as the devil was on the fridge in one episode.”

In the Halloween episode ‘Monster’ during Lucifer’s original run on Fox, Chloe pins one of Trixie’s drawings up on the fridge, which depicts Lucifer as a surprisingly accurate depiction of his true self.

While Trixie may simply be going along with what she perceives as Lucifer’s idea of a joke, other fans think there’s much more to it.

Another explained: “Trixie knows. She accepted Lucifer from the first moment in the grade school hallway when he made the mean girl scream.”

“She accepted Maze’s demon face on Halloween, and she even recognized Amenadiel as her mother’s guardian angel in the hospital. Trixie knows.”

Whether or not Lucifer and Trixie ever acknowledge their shared secret has yet to be confirmed.

However, with the arrival of God (Dennis Haysbert), Lucifer’s father and the literal ruler of creation, in the midseason finale, it may be harder for the devil to keep his complicated family history private.
