WARNING: SPOILERS FOR LOKI EPISODE 4 AHEAD. This week’s episode of Loki was full of surprises and shocks. But a passing reference by Owen Wilson’s Mobius seemed to drop a big Easter Egg.
During one scene, Mobius talks about the different species of variants the TVA have captured.
The bureaucrat said: “We brought in Kree, Titans and Vampires.”
The latter will no doubt have raised some alarm bells with Marvel fans considering this is the first time the existence of the blood-sucking undead have been mentioned in the MCU.
And who could this be hinting at other than Mahershala Ali’s Blade, who was announced in 2019?
Ali follows Wesley Snipes in playing the Marvel vampire on the big screen, but this time for the MCU.
The new Blade movie is yet to have a release date announced, although it’s expected to land in the latter half of 2023.
And if there are variant vampires hanging around, perhaps Snipes’ incarnation can pop up in the MCU too?
Additionally, Loki’s reference to their existence in the MCU could also be referring to Morbius The Living Vampire.
Okay, he’s not quite a vampire, but he’s still connected to the franchise as a character in Sony’s Marvel movies like Venom.
Jared Leto’s Morbius movie is out early next year and the first trailer featured a poster of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Micheal Keaton’s Vulture from the first Tom Holland movie.
Considering all the rumours of previous Sony villains and Maguire’s Peter Parker turning up in Spider-Man No Way Home, perhaps characters like Morbius and Tom Hardy’s Venom will interact with the MCU through the multiverse?
There’s even a possibility we could see Ali’s Blade and Leto’s Morbius sharing the screen.

In fact, Leto told The Late Late Show with James Corden earlier this year that such a vampire crossover with Blade is a possibility.
The Morbius star said: “That is a good question, and I could see that happening in the future. I do…yeah I could see that happening, yeah.”
That wasn’t exactly a no, so maybe he knows more than he’s letting on but can’t say just yet?
Morbius hits cinemas on January 28, 2022.
