Lisa Armstrong reveals she's lost for words after being axed from Britain's Got Talent to make way for Ant's return

The make-up artist, 42, was forced to leave the show as bosses felt it was "untenable" for her to continue on set with ex-husband Ant McPartlin.

Fans have tweeted her their support on Twitter and Lisa has revealed her feelings on her sacking.

She wrote: "Thank U hun xxx," in response to a comment reading: "Lisa, I have just read the news about you being AXED, I feel for you. You have support out here. XXX."

She retweeted another message, which read: "just saw you have been taken off BGT, I’m sorry to hear this if it’s true Lisa, it seems you are still getting punished for something you had no control over.

"You are amazing and so good to your followers with advice ect so carry on and sod em!"

While in another post, Lisa said: "Thanks Em, not really sure what else to say. ???," after a fan called the decision "unjust" and criticised Ant for not sticking up for her.

Lisa spent more than ten years working on the programme but will not return so Ant's comeback “goes smoothly with no unnecessary distractions”.

A show insider told the Mirror: "Although everyone is very fond of Lisa, it was clearly untenable to carry on working together.

“Ant and Dec are two of the most senior people on the show, sometimes these tough decisions have to be made.”

It comes after The Sun exclusively revealed that Ant has been cleared to return to work next month.

Ant and Dec’s comeback as a double act comes after McPartlin took eight months off work after crashing his car in a drink drive incident.

Lisa works full time as a make-up artist on Strictly Come Dancing and heads up the Bafta winning team.

She has also worked on Britain’s Got Talent and for Stephen Mulhern on his new series, In For A Penny.

Lisa is said to have expected the chop and can now look forward to her role on a new makeover TV show.

She will work alongside Kate Middleton’s hairdresser, Richard Ward, and stylist Erica Matthews, whose work has appeared in a number of fashion publications, including British Vogue.

Insiders told The Sun Online Lisa was the perfect choice for the show, which is still in the development stage.

The Sun Online has contacted Lisa's representatives for comment.
