Kym, 45, bravely sat down with her father Dave, 76, to speak about his ill-health after he was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer in recent months. Unfortunately, this came as a result of a delayed check-up after the coronavirus pandemic plunged the UK into multiple lockdowns. After the film was played out on Morning Live, the camera returned to the former Coronation Street star in the BBC studio and she was in tears.
Sat opposite her co-star, Gethin Jones, 43, the presenter said: “Oh sorry, it was so difficult for me to watch that.”
“I can imagine,” her co-host replied before she continued to say: “I’m absolutely in awe of him. I’ve said it before but I really am.
“He’s so brave to share that and he just wants to get the message out there so somebody might see it and it might just help someone.
“I’m proud of you dad,” she said as the tears rolled down her face, explaining Dave continues to make jokes to “keep his motivity up”.
Gethin added: “I’m sure he’s proud of you too for making that film because as you said, it’s going to make a huge difference to so many people.”
