Keira Knightley Celebrates Christmas and Doomsday in Silent Night Trailer

Black comedy opens in theaters and on AMC+ on Dec. 3

RLJE Films/AMC+

Keira Knightley in her latest film “Silent Night” plays a woman gathering the family for a traditional Christmas dinner, Zooming with Grandma and celebrating like it’s the last time — except it very much is the last time, as a deadly gas is slowly moving across the countryside that will eventually make all of humanity extinct.

That’s the premise of Camille Griffin’s black comedy and her directorial debut, which premiered at TIFF and was acquired by RLJE Films and AMC+.

In the first trailer for the film, we see the young Roman Griffin Davis eagerly ask if he’s going to die after he cuts himself and bleeds all over the carrots for dinner (“Probably,” Knightley responds with a smile). And the whole family is delighted to see that Grandma is in fact still alive when they call.

“Here’s to the lives we’ve shared, our beautiful children, our beautiful friends,” Knightley says in a toast. “May we rest in peace.”

“Silent Night” also stars Matthew Goode, Roman Griffin Davis,Annabelle Wallis, Lily-Rose Depp, Ṣọpé Dìrísù, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Lucy Punch, Rufus Jones and Trudie Styler among others. The film is both written and directed by Griffin and was produced by Matthew Vaughn, Styler and Celine Rattray.

AMC+ and RLJE Films are releasing the film on December 3, where it will play in theaters and stream exclusively on AMC+ day-and-date.
