Katie Price left furious as Harvey’s dad Dwight Yorke fails to get in contact after their emotional BBC documentary

KATIE Price has been left ‘angry and disappointed’ after Harvey’s dad Dwight Yorke failed to get in contact with his disabled son last night.

Insiders say that Katie hoped her BBC1 documentary, Harvey and Me, would prompt the former footballer to reconnect with his son, who he hasn’t spoken to in over ten years.

But sources say that “Katie hasn’t heard from Dwight, and she’s fuming about it – but as always, has left the door open for him to get in contact in the future”.

The friend adds: “She doesn’t expect much from Dwight given that he’s ignored Harvey for a long time, but part of her thought he might see the show and get in contact.”

Katie’s rep tells The Sun Online: “Katie is sadly somewhat resolved to this being the usual outcome – Katie has made it quite clear however that the door will always be open to change that at any time.”

Harvey, who has septo-optic dysplasia, autism and shows characteristics of Prader-Willi Syndrome, has only met his dad ‘a handful of times’ according to mum Katie – and has never met his half-brother, Dwight’s son.

The former Aston Villa star initially denied that Harvey was his child when Katie – then known as Jordan – revealed she was pregnant.

But after a paternity test in 2002, Dwight publicly acknowledged Harvey as his son – but in an interview in 2009, admitted he hadn’t kept in contact for “a combination of different things”.

He told Sky News’ Kay Burley: “One, my time schedule and being based up in Manchester and a footballer on an everyday basis.

“I’m not sitting here and saying I’m a total perfect father. I’ve made mistakes along the way and I would love to turn the clock back.”

The same year, he wrote in his autobiography that he “wanted to throttle” Katie’s then-husband Peter Andre after he asked to adopt Harvey, calling the move “disrespectful”.

In 2018, on her YouTube channel, Katie claimed the last time the pair were in contact was when Harvey was four, adding: “What I would like to do is turn up at Dwight Yorke’s place, ring the doorbell and be there with Harvey, for him to see Harvey.

“That’s what I would like to do and I will do that. I think Dwight should start entering Harvey’s life, it’s been years. How can you not want to know Harv? He’s so funny.”

Last night, viewers of Katie’s documentary slammed Dwight for ‘abandoning’ his son.

One said on Twitter: "Harvey’s dad Dwight, needs to step up to his responsibilities. Disgraceful that he abandoned him. I’m no fan of Katie Price, but she’s an amazing mother to that poor boy."

Another wrote: "His loss not Harvey's @KatiePrice Has done amazing with him he's so polite and friendly a lovely young man. Dwight has missed out his fault."

As another shared: "Hope Dwight Yorke is watching #harveyandme #katieprice"

And one more asked: "Even though Dwight Yorke doesn’t want to be a part of Harvey’s life where are his aunties, uncles and cousins on his dad’s side? #harveyandme #katieprice"

Dwight’s rep has been contacted for comment.
