I’m A Celeb chiefs plan to sex up Jungle shower as ratings slump

ITV chiefs are planning to sex up the Jungle to haul the show out of its ratings slump.

The current series has failed to reach the heights achieved by last year’s show, which was the most watched ever.

Its average viewing figures are down more than a million on 2018.

Fans have criticised a line-up with too many unknowns and too few showers – but bosses plan to change that next year.

A show insider said: “Some elements that make the show popular are sadly lacking from this bunch.

"It feels like a mistake not to have enough single campmates and there haven’t been enough shower scenes.

“Also, Andrew, Adele and Myles aren’t exactly household names.”

Sports legends Caitlyn and Ian reportedly cost £900,000 between them.

ITV last night insisted it was happy with the ratings – despite Saturday’s episode attracting just 5.5m viewers.

James Haskell was tonight kicked out of the jungle after his “arrogant behaviour”.

The rugby star, 34, was teary as he walked across the bridge and admitted that he was "quite emotional".

Asked why he took part in the show, he said: "I've got a few friends on the show who called it a life-changing experience… I leapt at the opportunity."

Opening up about what he liked most about camp, he said that he "enjoyed helping other people".

"I felt that I found a role, I'm not a chef, I'm not a comedian," he said.
