Holby City adoption plot DIVIDES viewers: ‘This will make it harder for real people’

Holly City viewers have been left divided over Dom Copeland’s storyline.

Dom recently discovered that his real mum, Ange, had put him up or adoption when he was just six months old.

His adoptive mum, Carol, dropped the bombshell a few weeks ago, and in the latest episode, Ange, revealed her reasons behind giving him up.

It ended in an emotional and tense conversation between the mother and son, with Dom choosing to remain working ward for the time being.

However, some fans have grown unhappy with the direction the storyline is going in.

One viewer took to Twitter to claim that the plot is demonising caregivers.

“Typical evil adopter story,” said the fan.

“Well done for conforming to all the conventions that make that situation harder than ever for people going through it, and lacking any reflection on how hard being an adopter is or how precious and needed those sort of people are”.

However, other fans rushed to compliment the show over the hard-hitting plot.

One viewer wrote: “Please say Dom and Ange will be able to be the happy family they should have always been soon! This is one quite extraordinary storyline that has me really hooked!”

A second fan tweeted: “Teared up a bit at the end, want to give Dom and Ange a massive hug”.

While a third added: “I’m adoring this Dominic storyline!”

Holby City continues next Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One.
