Great Celebrity Bake Off line-up revealed and it includes Friends icon and TOWIE legend

The Great Celebrity Bake Off has pulled out all this stops this year as it makes its highly-anticipated return to Channel 4 as part of Stand Up to Cancer 2023.

The celebrity edition of the The Great British Bake Off will see a number of famous faces go head-to-head in the hopes of impressing judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood enough to snag the coveted title of Star Baker.

Yet aside from the prestige of the title, the stars will also be hoping to raise vital funds to help fund cancer research, as one in two of us will be affected by the devastating disease in our lifetime.

Joining the show this year are a number of iconic stars, including Friends icon David Schwimmer and even TOWIE legend, Gemma Collins.

Immediately after the news was announced, fans could hardly contain their excitement at such a prolific and star studded line-up, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts.

“Excuse me!!!!! David Schwimmer and Jay Blades I think I’m in bake off heaven,” wrote one fan.

A second also agreed, as they wrote: “Omg I (heart) all of them! Cannot wait to watch and laugh!”

Meanwhile a third commented: “What a line up! Can’t wait for this to be back on!”

Before a fourth weighed in: “That is quite a line-up! All for a good cause and with fun.”

Although no release date has yet been given, the show is expected to return to our screens very soon.

David Schwimmer

One of the most famous stars to take part this year is David Schwimmer, the US actor best known for portraying palaeontologist Ross Gellar in 90’s sitcom Friends.

Tom Davis

Joining David is Tom Davis, an English actor and comedian best known for his role as DI Sleet in the BBC Three comedy Murder in Successville, and as Gary King in the BBC sitcom King Gary.

Rose Matafeo

Giving both stars a run for their money in the baking stakes is actress and comedian Rose Matafeo, who fans may recognise from her recent appearance on Taskmaster, or form her starring role in BBC rom-com Starstruck.

Jesy Nelson

Former Little Mix star turned solo singing sensation Jesy Nelson will also be trying her hand at impressing the judges as she takes on the annual baking challenge in the hope of being crowned the star baker.

Jay Blades MBE

The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades MBE, will also be hoping to impress Paul and Prue as he competes this year – but will his skill in the worship translate to success in the kitchen?

Judi Love

OK!’s very own columnist Judi Love has also signed up for the exciting baking competition as she hopes to take home the star baker apron and raise some vital money to help beat cancer.

Mike Wozniak

British comedian Mike Wozniak is another funnyman hoping to impress in this year’s show. He is best known for portraying Brian in the Channel 4 sitcom Man Down and as a member of the team that makes Small Scenes for BBC Radio 4.

Deborah Meaden

Dragon’s Den icon and entrepreneurial genius Deborah Meaden will also be getting stuck into the series this year, despite having previously confessed she was “rubbish” at cooking while attending the Nourish Awards. She previously said: “I have never ever cooked a meal in my life but I do like food."

Ellie Taylor

Another familiar face taking on the Bake Off challenge is Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie Taylor, who fans may also recognise for her work as a stand-up comedian, actress and writer.

Gemma Collins

Is there anything the GC can’t do? TOWIE legend Gemma Collins is aiming to prove so, as she sets out to impress the judges and viewers at home with her stylish bakes.

The star has previously been open about her love of all things baking, as she has been spotted on Instagram multiple times showing off her impeccable bakes – and indulging her sweet tooth while decorating them.

Tim Key

Another comic turning his hand to baking this year is Tim Key, who again, fans may recognise from his recent appearance on Taskmaster. However, he is best known for playing Alan Partridge's sidekick Simon in Mid Morning Matters, Alpha Papa, and This Time.

AJ Odudu

Presenting ace AJ Odudu is no stranger to the kitchen, as proven in 2021, when she appeared on ITV’s Cooking With the Stars. Fast forward two years and she is once again hoping to impress the judges, this time with her formidable baking skills.


Jessica Hynes

Comedic talent appears to be a strong theme in this year’s line up, with funny woman Jessica Hynes also joining the fray as she hopes to take home the coveted win. As well as working as a writer and director, Jessica is best known for starring alongside Simon Pegg in comedy series Spaced.

Paddy McGuinness

Top Gear presenter Paddy McGuinness will be swapping motors for mixing bowls as he takes on the Bake Off challenge in 2023.

He first rose to fame with the help of Peter Kay, who invited him to appear in his programmes That Peter Kay Thing, Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere.

He later delighted audiences on ITV dating show Take Me Out, before securing his lucrative BBC motoring gig on Top Gear.

Coleen Nolan

Another celeb taking part this year is Loose Women presenter Coleen Nolan, who has a personal connection to cancer, after sadly losing her sister Bernie to it back in 2013.

Her sister Linda is also currently battling the disease, and is treatable but sadly not curable at this time – making the need to fund research all the more vital.

Joe Thomas

Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas has also signed on to take part in the show, as he follows in the footsteps of his former co-star Blake Harrison who competed last year.

Most recently he has been seen starring in ITV drama Maternal, alongside Parminder Nagra and Lara Pulver.

Tom Daley OBE

One star with a track record for success in everything he does is Olympic gold medallist, Tom Daley, but can his success in the pool also translate to a coveted win in the Bake Off tent?

David Morrissey

In a deviation from some of his more comedic competitors, actor and filmmaker David Morrissey will be hoping his attention to detail and “meticulous preparation” will help him to secure victory in the tent. He is best known for starring in Red Riding and in the AMC hit series, The Walking Dead.

Lucy Beaumont

Comedienne Lucy Beaumont, the wife of comic Jon Richardson, is another celebrity hoping to impress the judges this year She is best known for her work as an actress, writer, and stand-up comedian – with most of her work revolving around her early life in Hull.

Adele Roberts

And finally, rounding off the list of this year’s contestants is Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts, who will be hoping to raise money for cancer research after being diagnosed with stage two bowel cancer in October 2021.

As someone personally affected by the gruelling disease – and someone that was successfully able to beat it in June 2022, Adele will be channelling her personal motivation into some seriously scrumptious bakes while also raising money for a good cause.
