HOLLY Willoughby launched into a passionate defence of pop legend Britney Spears while discussing a documentary about her.
The This Morning host, who turned 40 yesterday, spoke about the star's "mistreatment" during her relationship with Justin Timberlake.
After watching a clip of US interview Dianne Sawyer grilling Britney and suggesting she was "unfaithful", Holly looked horrified.
She said: "It is extraordinary treatment of someone who is so young about something so personal, so publicly there.
"And there are calls for her to come forward and apologise for that now.
"Not only her though, there’s also Justin Timberlake and she was in a very public relationship with him at the time.
"There was the music video Cry Me A River where there was a Britney lookalike in it and there were allegations that she had cheated during this.
"Because of this documentary, that has been aired again and people are saying he was in the wrong as well."
Justin has come under fire for his 2002 hit Cry Me A River, which shows a woman who looked like Britney cheating on him.
Holly added: "It just seems there was a lot of mistreatment of her around that time."
One fan was delighted the issue was being discussed, tweeting: "So glad the free britney movement is finally getting spoke about on uk tv. Been a long time coming."
