Former Page 3 model Peta Todd reveals her sibling has transitioned and says her mum's 'mind was blown' by news

PETA Todd has revealed her sibling transitioned four years ago and is now female, known as Faye.

The former Page 3 girl, who is married to cyclist Mark Cavendish, said: “My sibling has transitioned. They have now transitioned and live as Faye. They are nine years younger than me, so my children grew up knowing them as their uncle."

Speaking on Superdrug Healthful Podcast, she explained: “To say that I knew they would want to transition is incorrect because I didn’t, but I would have probably had a sneaking suspicion that even though they always had girlfriends, maybe I thought they were gay.

“We couldn’t be more different in every possible way but we get on really well and we had a conversation and I was like ‘Listen, do you only like girls?’ and at the time they were like ‘No, but I’ve never had any relationship with a man but I’m open to not just girls’.”

The 34-year-old mother of four admitted that while it was hard for her sibling to open up to their mum about it, Peta's own children embraced the change easily.

“Faye found it really difficult to speak to my mum who’s obviously in that generation. My mum’s side of the family all come from Missionaries, the super religious side of the family. It blew her mind completely, and she really wanted to kind of understand everything.

“I would be quite open to say: ‘Excuse my ignorance if I say something the wrong way but talk to me about this so I can know how to navigate and with the kids. They’re not going to care. They love you regardless, but they’ve known you as your dead name and you want to be known as a different name. They’re not going to be able to get that right every single time.’ And they were like ‘that’s fine.’”

“But [my son] Finnbar, who was 10 at the time was like ‘cool, no problem.’ It wasn’t a big deal. Delilah would comment that she really liked what Faye was wearing. They found their own way to this new relationship.

“I have really high hopes for our generations of children if it’s spoken about more and represented more that they’re no different to any person. "

Peta met cyclist husband Mark in 2010 and the pair married on October 5, 2013 in London. They have three children together, Delilah, eight and two sons, Frey, four as well as two-year-old Casper. Peta also has a 14-year-old son Finnbar, from a previous relationship.

Speaking about the struggles of being a mum she said: “We’re learning as well, as parents, as you’re going along. You’re facing these hurdles for the first time too.

"This sounds horrific but there’s times when you don’t even recognise that child as all of a sudden they’re becoming their own person.

"Just give yourself a break sometimes. You can’t be strong all the time.

"And that’s not to say blub all over your children but you are a human being and actually to show that it’s Ok to not be OK and to find things difficult. Just to have that level of understanding that you’re a parent, you’re not a robot.”

Peta first modelled for The Sun’s Page 3 in 2006 and has appeared on Newsnight and at the Oxford Union to discuss the merits of 40 years of Page 3.

She is also dedicated to her charity work – Peta is the Help For Heroes official pin-up and patron and has raised thousands of pounds for them through charity bikes rides, sky dives, wing walks and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with injured servicemen and women.
