Footballer Aaron Connolly begs ex to not go on Love Island despite ‘cheating’

Irish footballer Aaron Connolly has pleaded with his ex-girlfriend Lucinda Strafford not to head to Majorca next week to join Love Island.

The Brighton & Hove player, 21, is said to be livid that his gorgeous ex Lucinda, who he is reported to have cheated on, is off to find love on one of the hottest shows in history.

Aaron and the former air hostess, also 21, dated for two years but split after a video of him emerged allegedly breaking lockdown rules, after bedding another woman.

At the time, a spokesperson for Aaron's club said the issue would be investigated and "dealt with in the appropriate manner".

And though the pair are said to be on speaking terms, she is thought to be dead set on heading to the villa.

Lucinda, who was made redundant from her British Airways flying job, also owns an online lingerie and swimwear business called The Luxe Range and often posts sexy shots of her modelling her own products.

Being on Love Island would be the perfect opportunity to further her business interests, she believes.

But £1million-a-year winger Aaron, who is originally from Galway, has other ideas.

A source told The Sun: “They’ve seen each other, been at each other’s houses and had dinner, but over the last couple of days she has told a few people she’s going to be on Love Island and now Aaron knows and isn’t very happy.

“They have argued about her going in.

“She wants fame and money – she’s always wanted to be a celebrity. She’s trying to become an influencer, she wants to do it for her business."

Lucinda was apparently approached by Love Island producers before but could not take part due to her job with BA.

But since she has been made redundant due to Covid, there is nothing to stop her.

The source added: “She’s had a really lengthy psych evaluation so it looks like she’s going in.”

She and Aaron, who has also played for Ireland, lived together but after he was filmed having sex with another woman, she promptly moved out.

Back in March, a source told The Sun: "It’s shocking. Connolly invited the girl to the house where he’s been staying and had sex with her.

“It appears their sex session was filmed and a video was made.

“And it also seems he’s breached Covid lockdown rules by allowing this woman into the house.

“He could well be in trouble with the club over this.”

Love Island is due to hit our screens at the end of this month after skipping a series last summer due to the pandemic and lockdown.

Last summer simply wasn't the same without the nightly shouts of "got a text!", new bombshell arrivals and dramatic re-couplings.

Luckily, ITV bosses have promised Love Island will return for 2021, and be "stronger than ever", and we can't wait.

ITV added: "Love Island returns for its seventh sizzling series, as a host of new singletons seek to find their perfect match."
