Escape to the Chateau: Dick jokes about ‘naked dishwashing’
Dick Strawbridge and his son Arthur were left to their own devices as Angel and Dorothy spent the day away from the Chateau. Dick took their absence as an opportunity to teach his son how to drive a tractor without any help. But as the pair enjoyed time bonding, Dick warned his son to stay quiet about the driving lesson.
“The girls have popped out because it’s Arthur’s birthday next week and they wanted to go away,” Dick began in a self-filmed video.
“So Daddy and Arthur are out here because we wanted to have a bit off and we are learning the skills of living on a Chateau.”
Dick then stepped behind the camera as he filmed Arthur driving a tractor on the grounds of the Chateau for the first time.
“First solo trip of Arthur Strawbridge,” he said before instructing his son: “Sit up straight and concentrate.

“You’re not allowed to tell Mummy or you’ll get Daddy in trouble.”
Arthur continued to drive the tractor as Dick guided him on what to do and where to head to.
It was clear Dick was proud of his son as he watched on before revealing: “He is eight this week so he is old enough.”
As Arthur went on to park the tractor, Dick asked: “How was that? Your first trip solo.”
“Great! I’ve got to tell Mum!” Arthur replied as his dad exclaimed: “No! You’ll get me in trouble.”
Arthur laughed: “No, I can’t keep secrets!”
The father and son continued to bond over Arthur’s tractor driving lesson with the video ending with a sweet message to the birthday boy.
The latest insight from the Chateau comes after Angel and Dick admitted they never know if their series Escape to the Chateau will continued.

Dick Strawbridge sparks frenzy with Escape to the Chateau show update [UPDATE]
Speaking from their recently completed Salon, Angel explained: “Everything has to start somewhere and this has started from a small idea we had, the subscription and The Salon has been floating around in our minds for quite a while.
She went on to add the couple “go into every year, genuinely not knowing if we are going to make any more television, if we’re going to make any more Escape to the Chateau”.
“We don’t always know our future at the start and we were really excited for exploring this,” Angel continued.
Dick added: “We decided that The Salon would be a way for people to see more of the real things going on.
“You don’t see it all on the television but the people who are here milling around love the scope of what they see.
“So the idea of The Salon was so people can get a real proper feel for the Chateau not just the beautifully shot elements.”
Angel continued: “It was just before we did our home movies, all we had before that was Escape to the Chateau at the chateau.”
The couple have been updating fans on their Chateau TV website regularly posting home videos.
Escape to the Chateau is available to catch up on Channel 4OD now.
