Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins wows fans as she ditches pixie cut for glam makeover

Emmerdale's Isabel Hodgins left soap fans swooning when she chopped her hair into a pixie cut two years ago, finding she was "over" her long locks.

Now, following the third nationwide lockdown, the 27-year-old actress has seen her hair start to grow, falling to her shoulders.

Sharing an update to her Instagram stories on Wednesday, Isabel – who plays Emmerdale's Victoria Sugden – revealed her hair is now long enough to tie into a ponytail.

She posted a head and shoulders snapshot from the car, which showed her head tilted to one side.

Her natural brunette locks were swept back into a hair-tie, as Isabel exclaimed: "That's right. A real-life ponytail."

The Eccles-born star consulted the Emmerdale scriptwriters when she first cut her hair two years ago, with the transformation getting written into her storyline.

Appearing on Loose Women in July of 2019, Isabel explained why she'd decided on the sophisticated pixie cut.

She said: "It's just thick and curly and unruly and I was just like: I've had it for 25 years and I'm over it."

Christine Lampard asked her whether she needed permission for the chop, only for Isabel to highlight the gender imbalance behind the scenes in serial dramas.

"Yeah that's the thing, I'm a woman and I have to ask ‘can I get my hair cut'," she said.

"They said they could tie it into the story and it just went from there.

"My life is so much easier!"

On Emmerdale at the time, characters like Moira Dingle and Diane Sugden picked up on the hair makeover, complimenting Victoria's elegant chop.

"I love your hair. It looks great on you," said Diane, and Moira, played by Natalie J Robb, said the haircut "really suited her".

More recently, in April of last year, Isabel revealed she underwent another transformation when she dyed her hair a shade of platinum blonde.

The soap star poked fun at her new ‘do at the time, saying: "If anyone wants to go from brown to blonde, just know there will be a time, before the toner, where you look like Big Bird."

"This was over Christmas – yes hairdressers are closed. It's such a ridiculous photo I thought it would make people smile," she added.
