They love a good stunt in Emmerdale and Emma Atkins has been revealing that she got to do her own stunt for an upcoming scene where Charity Dingle takes Caleb (William Ash)’s car and drives away with Cain (Jeff Hordley) in the passenger seat.
The scenes come after Charity receives a piece of shocking news in a phone call. It’s not clear at the moment what the call is about, but it leaves Charity struggling to process what she’s been told.
Mack (Lawrence Robb) is convinced she must have discovered that he fathered Chloe (Jessie Elland)’s baby, but it seems it’s something even more shocking than that as Charity grabs a bottle of vodka and storms out.
‘What she hears shocks her and sends her flying off the handle,’ Emma told us. ‘She’s quite volatile in her reaction and quite reckless in the next thing that she does.
‘She sees that Caleb has dropped his car keys and she just feels reckless and grabs the keys. Then Cain catches her doing it and she immediately becomes this teenage girl again and wants to just be rebellious. Who better to be rebellious with than her sidekick back from her teenage years. So she says to Cain, “You might have witnessed it but that now makes you my accomplice.” Cain tries to get out of the car but she whizzes off at a pace so it’s impossible for him to get out.’
Emma had a great time filming the scenes. ‘It’s funny actually, because we shot it and I got to do my own stunt,’ she said. ‘There was a muffin and a cup of coffee on the roof of the car and I had to pull away really fast. It jolted the muffin off the car and I loved it.’
There’s no mention of how much the muffin enjoyed the experience, however.
