Emmerdale has been tackling the controversial topic of grooming recently as Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) tightens her hold over pupil Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant).
This week, the pair are given the perfect opportunity to continue their forbidden affair as David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) has been dragged away from the village to a local business fair.
Roping in the help of his girlfriend, he asks Maya to stay at the cottage and take care of Jacob for the week.
But little does he know what’s going on under his roof between the teacher and his son.
In scenes aired tonight, Maya and Jacob sat down and spoke about the altercation which occurred last week when Maya lied and fabricated a whole story about Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) having a man upstairs to cover the fact Jacob was in her bedroom.
Following an almighty showdown in the middle of the village with Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) after wires got crossed, Jacob was forced to come clean and told a truth of sorts.
After reconciling with one another, Maya turned on the manipulative charm and convinced Jacob to make the most of their time together this week.
During the conversation, she also implied their relationship was going to come to an end pretty soon.
Maya said: “It’s going to be funny, having the house to ourselves. Don’t let what happened spoil it, it could be so special.”
As Jacob kept quiet, Maya took this opportunity to continue the mind games and added: “You know, as you get older you start to realise life’s short and if you keep denying yourself what you want because you’re worried about other people, it’s wasted.
“I want you to enjoy this week, I want you to remember this for the rest of your life.”
Does her last comment hint at the possibility that she knows their relationship is not going to last forever and they are going to be found out and exposed?
Elsewhere in Emmerdale, fans saw a familiar face return and cause havoc.
Having last being seen a year ago, Aiesha Jutla (Shila Iqbal) came back tonight and it wasn’t long before she was interfering with everyone’s business.
With her mother, Manpreet Jutla (Rebecca Sarke) and Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) having just returned from their extended holiday, they were keen to share some news with their family.
I want you to remember this for the rest of your life.
Maya to Jacob.
Brimming with excitement, the pair had spontaneously married during a Las Vegas pit stop.
But Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) was not impressed and lashed out at his father for his irrational decision.
In an explosive argument, Jai kicked them out of his house, but he was quick to overturn the decision when Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) reminded him of how he could keep an eye on Manpreet better if she was living under his household.
Will the family be able to reconcile?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
