Emily Atack revealed how the jungle gave her "self-acceptance" before coming runner-up on I’m A Celebrity 2018.
The Inbetweeners star was in shock tonight after leaving the camp – and nearly burst into tears.
Emily, 28, triumphed thanks to her down-to-earth approach and honesty about her own issues about finding love and gaining more self-confidence.
She spoke about splitting from her long time boyfriend and struggling to find work after her The Inbetweeners fame.
Speaking to Dec Donnelly and Holly Willoughby, she said: "I’m going to start crying already. This place makes me cry all the time. It’s changed my life in so many ways.
"I came into the year, a difficult start to the year. I didn’t know what I was doing or where I wanted to go."
"This place has given me such self-acceptance. I worry about things constantly. I’ve learned to accept who I am. This is my skin, my hair, this is what I look like."
Emily admitted she had spent a "lifetime wearing armour" but had learnt to embrace her looks.
Emily, previously best known for her role as Charlotte Hinchcliffe in comedy Inbetweeners, said: “I have learned that I am terrified of everything but I can get the job done.
“I feel like someone is winding me up. It’s like a really weird dream, I’ve ticked off everything on my Jungle bucket list.”
“Coming here I realised I don’t need to be anything other than myself, I’ve been stripped bare here and not a single person has judged a bone in my body.
“The first three things I am going to do are shower, eat and ring all my friends.”
The result thrilled Emily’s mum Kate Robbins, also a comedian and actress, who has been out in Australia supporting her and also mobilising as much support as possible on social media.
Kate said: “I think she has proved herself in the jungle. She has done some amazing things I would never know she has do and she is out there with no make up.
“Everyone is discovering the real Emily, it is a little revelation we all know she is funny and a bit mad but she has been known as a glamour puss for so long.
“It is great people are seeing the natural Emily with the freckles and I am just happy so made the final three.”
Reaching the final has kickstarted Emily Atack’s comedy career at the age of 28. Since appearing on the Inbetweeners eight years ago she has had roles but regular work has dried up.
Sources close to Emily say the agency representing her have been inundated with requests as she is seen as “natural and normal” as opposed to many reality stars obsessed with appearance.
A planned comedy tour called Talk Thirty To Me which starts in April is also close to selling out some dates and will announce an extension with more dates later this month.
Mum Kate added: “It think it will sell out and be amazing for her. It is her first tour and be great for her and I think she will tell some jungle secrets.”
Right at the series she was shown screaming when she parachuted into the opening trial which divided camp.
Worse was to come when she was chosen to do a trial called Viper Pit and was bitten by one of the snakes.
But she bravely carried on with trial and managed a total of 9 out of 10 stars.
She also won over fans by being so normal, a bad dancer and emotional at times.
Emily had a heart-to-heart with Noel Edmonds – admitting she is yet to meet Mr Right and is “soul searching” at the moment.
She told Noel: “I’ve not met that person yet. I’m soul searching at the moment, I had a difficult start to the year, I had a break up after being with someone for five years. I’d got into the habit of needing that security, love and acceptance from a guy to make me happy.
“For me this has been very daunting, I’m an open book and talk openly about my feelings and I’m sat here with no make up on, I know that sounds vain but in here I’m not worried, I’m carefree. I’m a bit of a boozer on the outside and I thought coming in here without booze I’d be really quiet and shy but I don’t need it at all. I’m nearly 29 and want to look after myself and who I am, the fact that I have freckles and no eyebrows!
Noel then gave her a prediction: “When you are 100% comfortable with yourself, shortly after that you will find that person because your positive energy radiates and you can only attract other positive energy.”
She had also admitted to having a crush on John Barrowman before she went in camp and he was her closest friend in there.
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph she said: “I have such a laugh with John. We sit around chatting and John makes me laugh until I physically can’t breathe, until I am sick. So he entertains me very very much. I knew we would be bessies in there when he bathed me!”
