EastEnders farewell for Ben Mitchell as he plans to flee Walford after arrest

EastEnders will air emotional scenes on Friday, as Ben Mitchell is forced to make a huge decision after his arrest.

He and dad Phil Mitchell were arrested for the murder of Keanu Taylor in the latest episode of the BBC soap.

It appears Ben isn't in the cop shop for long though, and he quickly makes the decision he has to go on the run before he's locked up permanently.

The character must say a heartbreaking goodbye to his young daughter Lexi, leaving her in the care of mum Lola and best friend Jay.

Emotional spoiler pictures show the doting dad in tears as he explains he has to leave to his little girl.

The pair cuddle, as he says a final goodbye with Lola and Jay watching on.

It comes after Sharon Mitchell set up her ex Phil with their feud escalating.

She had him and son Ben arrested for murder, weeks on from them having Keanu Taylor killed.

Of course fans know Keanu is still alive and on the run, after Ben had Martin Fowler shoot him dead – only for Martin to, with the help of Linda Carter, fake the death.

Keanu had an emotional farewell with his mum Karen Taylor, who soon found out the truth, before fleeing the country – amid fresh reports he will make a dramatic return to the BBC soap.

Sharon also discovered her former fling and the father of her unborn baby was alive just days ago.

Linda was drunk and let the twist slip, while she and Martin are the only ones to know the truth about that day – with Martin not having told Linda he had revealed all to a worried Karen.

The Mitchells are struggling with their guilt, still believing Keanu is dead because of them.

Sharon had feared her ex had been murdered after he went missing on Christmas Day, and predicted the Mitchells had murdered him.

Her ex Phil chucked her out when he learned the truth about the fling and took everything from her, leaving her wanting revenge.

After a confession from Louise, it was only a matter of time before Sharon worked out what had happened – even predicting where family friend Martin may have hidden any evidence of the crime.

Linda's drunken confession, and her explaining everything the next day, was all Sharon needed to put the pieces of the puzzle together, and then use it to her advantage – having them arrested.

It's claimed things will come to a head next month though, during the soap's big 35th anniversary episodes, with Keanu set to return for a showdown with Ben.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
