EASTENDERS fans are in tears of worry for Jean Slater after she tried to seduce Phil Mitchell in exchange for letting her daughter Stacey return home.
The cleaner – who is played by actress Gillian Wright in the BBC soap – is off her bipolar medication and suffering from delusions and poor impulse control.
In tonight's episode she got the wrong end of the stick with Shirley and decided to dress up to sleep with Phil to get him to let Stacey return.
Viewers know Stacey was the one to almost kill Phil last year – and she was forced to go on the run to save herself from his revenge.
Jean's attempt at seducing Phil failed immediately but viewers were in tears at her desperation to save her daughter.
She begged Phil to accept her offer, forcing him to phone Shirley to come and save her friend.
The ordeal left viewers in tears at what had occurred.
One wrote: "Jean needs help, I feel so sad for her."
A second said: "Oh no, Jean! Don't do that – I'm crying, she needs help."
Another added: "Jean, this is so heartbreaking."
It isn't yet known when Stacey will return to Walford with the pandemic shutdown meaning any immediate plans will have been pushed back.
Actress Lacey Turner made a surprise appearance just weeks into her maternity leave for storyline purposes but she isn't expected back for a while.
Lacey told The Sun earlier this year that it would be hard to return.
She said: "I think it will be hard to go back to work as much as I’m looking forward to working again.
"I will miss Dusty because you get so used to spending all day every day together. She’s great company.
"Being a mother is by far the hardest job I have ever done in my life. But it’s also the best thing in the world. It has changed me because it makes you see everything differently.
"It highlights what’s important and what isn’t! I think I’m much more chilled out now I’m a mother."
