Danni Menzies has been a staple on Channel 4  series A Place in the Sun since 2016. Since she made her debut, the property expert has travelled to many exotic countries and over the years she has helped many couples to find their dream holiday homes. However, in a new interview, the 32-year-old detailed the time she found a poorly puppy laying at the side of the road in Spain.

“We were driving in the mountains of Spain when I saw this little thing at the side of the road,” Danni told Hello magazine.

“It was a puppy. She was half-dead. We found this lovely animal charity and a nice couple to adopt her.”

The property expert also opened up about her personal life in the interview, where she admitted she wasn’t 100 per cent sure whether she wanted children.

The star added: “I am not 100 per cent on having kids, but I am 100 per cent on having lots of dogs and probably a rescue donkey as well – basically anything that needs a home.”

In the past, Danni has openly addressed how filming for A Place in the Sun can cause “difficulties” in her personal life.

The TV presenter explained she has struggled to sustain a relationship because of her busy lifestyle.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, ahead of filming for the new series, Danni said: “I’ve tried relationships over the years, and it’s very difficult when you start dating someone and then you go, ‘Oh by the way I’m just off for three weeks.’

“So, I won’t lie about that, it’s been very difficult for me to nail that part of my life. But I am working on it.”

Earlier this year filming for A Place in the Sun was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, as soon as the travel ban lifted and the Channel 4 was given the go-ahead, Danni and her fellow co-stars were able to travel to sunnier shores once again.

Danni, who has worked for her family’s property business for years, said she was able to visit places she had never been to before in the latest series.

She explained: “I did quite a few shows in Italy for the new series as well which was really exciting because I’ve never actually filmed there before.”

The host continued: “I saw quite a lot of parts of Spain I hadn’t been to before in the new series as well, so that was quite interesting.

“[They were the] less popular areas with, sort of, tourists, so that was quite fun because it kind of gave me a different view on Spain.”

During her time on the property series, Danni has come across a few difficult house hunters.

She admitted that sometimes she finds it a struggle to meet her guest’s criteria because their expectations are so high.

“Everyone does a really good job of finding the best properties that are out there for their budget,” Danni said.

“But at the same time, you’ve got to kind of push people a little bit and maybe show them something they wouldn’t have necessarily looked at themselves.

“And actually, sometimes that really pays off and they go ‘Oh god I didn’t even think of that, that’s perfect,’ but they’re never going to love all five of them.

“We usually have something in the mix that will kind of push what they were thinking and that can either really pay off, they will absolutely love it or absolutely hate it.”

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
