Dancing On Ice may turn into a swimming competition as reportedly ITV bosses are having to shell out thousands of pounds to keep the ice rink frozen.
The rink, in Bovingdon, Herts, has allegedly been melting ahead of rehearsals for the show’s launch on January 6, and it has been reported ITV are bringing in extra insulation to try and keep it cold.
A TV source told The Sun: "They already have three chillers powered on generators to keep the ice cold, but the studio seems to be too warm to keep everything frozen.
"They have been installing insulation so the temperature doesn’t rise any more. It’s very hard to get it right — a few degrees out and puddles can begin to appear.”
Stars have already been training after their pairings were revealed earlier in the year, with stars like Gemma Collins, Love ISland’s Wes Nelson, Grease actress Didi Conn and former Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan.
Also in this year’s line up are Jane Danson of Corrie fame, Saara Alton, a former X Factor contestant, Loose Women’s Saira Khan, former EastEnder Richard Blackwood and former Westlife singer Brian McFadden.
Holly Willoughby will return from her Australian travels in plenty of time to present the show alongside her beloved TV husband and This Morning co-presenter, Phillip Schofield.
Wes’ partner, Vanessa Bauer, has expressed concern for his commitment, after he went off on a 10-day holiday with girlfriend Megan Barton Hanson.
She told Phil on his morning show that while she was "worried" about their chances, she is "confident" they will catch up, once Wes, 20, can give the practice his full attention.
She said that "rehearsals are going well whenever we’re on the ice training," adding that Wes is, "ambitious and talented. He wants to get far."
Vanessa is the reigning champion on the show, having won with Jake Quickenden in the 2018 series.
MirrorOnline has contacted ITV for comment.
