WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? ★★★
Fortunately this genealogy series hasn’t yet turned up a lineage of blameless bakers. Everybody profiled here has a noteworthy ancestor or skeleton in the family closet. Marta Dusseldorp (A Place to Call Home, Janet King) is such an endearingly familiar face that her ancestry seems almost as interesting as one’s own. Her maternal roots stretch to Germany and Switzerland, thrilling her with stories of strong, compassionate women.

THE RECORDING STUDIO ★★★½
This mix of total amateurs and semi-professionals in this touching project makes for a surprising mix of end products. Oftentimes, the more raw the performance, the better. But it’s an 88-year-old crooner with dementia who slays with a Sinatra classic.
