Coronation Street’s Sam Robertson is said to be ‘dating’ former footballer and Strictly star Alex Scott, after they took in a ‘romantic dinner’, according to reports.
The two were reportedly spotted on a date in London over the weekend, swiftly sparking relationship rumours.
Alex, 35, who is tipped to replace Sue Barker on A Question of Sport, and 34-year-old Sam – who first appeared on Corrie in 2004, before returning to his bad boy role of Ken Barlow’s grandson Adam in 2016 – were said to have enjoyed a ‘champagne dinner date’ at Dent Street Townhouse on Friday.
This could just be any other dinner with a friend, but according to onlookers, the duo was ‘flirting’.
A source told the Sun: ‘They both looked totally relaxed about being out together, even though they’re both very famous now.
‘Strictly made Alex a household name so she’s instantly recognisable, and Sam is a big name on Corrie so they probably knew they’d be spotted out together but didn’t seem to mind at all.
‘They laughed and flirted with each other and had a great time before heading off looking very cosy. They’re clearly both happy.’
The reports surfaced not long after it was claimed former England and Arsenal player Alex was tipped to take over as host on A Question Of Sport – following the departure of Sue Barker, Matt Dawson, and Phil Tufnell.
While nothing has been confirmed, Alex shared a powerful anti-racism poem amid the backlash to the rumours, posting a ‘throwback Thursday’ post from 2018 of a poem she wrote that had been copied out on a London tube notice board.
The poem reads: ‘I was that girl that played football, I really didn’t care / I was that girl that played football, long brown hair / I was that girl that played football, with no regards to the colour of my skin / I was that girl that played football, because I always wanted to win.
‘I retired from football with medals and honours galore / I retired from football to open a new door / Now I talk about football live on your TV / Some want to say I’m ticking a box, but that’s not me.
‘Football is football and that is what I see. Hi, hello, I’m Alex Scott and you know what, football is me.’
The star has also thanked fans for their ‘love and support’, penning a heartfelt tweet.
‘The love & support shown to me yesterday has me smiling through the weekend #thankyou I am going to #keeponkeepingon like always!’ she said. ‘The only thing that is signed sealed delivered that I am buzzing about right now though is….@Aubameyang7@Arsenal #COYG.’
